ACAMIS Soccer

This was the first year that I participated in soccer in a sports team. It has also been a long time since XIS brought a girls soccer team to ACAMIS. It was a pretty long process trying to gather enough girls for the tournament, but we did it at the end.

The tournament was also one of my favorite tournaments, but this isn't because we got first place. It is because we got 5th. As a team with 90% first-time soccer players, I am very impressed with everyone of them including myself. We went to the tournament to represent our school and to have fun, we did not expect highly of ourselves of gave up completely. Instead, we challenged ourselves against girls that have more training and more experience than us. We never gave up. The first day was amazing because we scored two goals in the first game and stopped the opponents from scoring any. In addition, the weather in the last few days were not pleasant as everyone were playing in the rain. However, I believe it is because of these ups and downs our team really stayed together. I made new friends, or got closer with some people that are not within my grade during the tournament. It was very fun talk and hanging out with them. We say hi to each other in the hallways now and if everyone in our school can do that, I think our school spirit would improve by a lot.

Moreover, our flight changed route in the middle of the fly back home due to poor weather conditions in Xiamen. That added on to the excitement of the trip, everyone spent the night in the airport. Even though it was very tiring but that only provide us more opportunity to be with each other.
